Angel Song

Angel SongAngel song is my first Christian fiction novels. Sheila Walsh and Kathryn Cushman portrayed the characters and story in a very realistic manner for me. I couldn’t put this book down. No wonder it was Women of Faith’s book of the year.

While the book focuses on the main character Ann who has suddenly lost her sister in an unfortunate accident there is also a story about a child named Keith. He is a child with down syndrome who hears the songs of the Angels.  Keith’s story reminds me how children often see and hear things that we as adults simply can’t.

This novel is impressive, sure to capture your attention and leave you wanting more.

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope: Seeing God's Wit and Wisdom in a Whole New Light
In Kaleidoscope, Patsy Clairmont takes us through readings from the book of Proverbs.  Each Chapter begins with a verse from Proverbs and Patsy ties the verse into a personal experience. She explains how her heart has been changed through the straightforward counsel of Proverbs.

The analogy our lives are like Kaleidoscopes is brilliant. The book is a colorful spin on how our lives are similar to a Kaleidoscope with all its bits and pieces swirling around inside. At the end of each chapter, questions are offered to personalize the chapters opening Proverbs.

I can relate to the authors content in my own life on many different levels.  In chapter 30 “Something Fishy”, Patsy discusses Proverbs 1:2a which reflects To know wisdom and instruction….. She talks of her mom’s Alzheimer’s and how the family learned to cope with the deteriorating disease. I found this story particularly insightful and loved her encouraging take on the situation.

Everyone has a story; Kaleidoscope is a collection of Patsy’s stories told with wit and humor. Patsy says it best, “God ultimately uses our past, secures our today, and holds our destiny”.  A tender felt book you are sure to enjoy.

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and BackHeaven is For Real is a wonderful story about little Colton Burpo's account of his short trip to Heaven. The author and father Todd Burpo describes how over a period of a few years his son shares about spending time in heaven.
Heaven described through a young child's eyes is breathtaking. I found myself deeply moved by little Colton's account of all the colors and experiences of heaven. His descriptions are so innocent that you can't help but believe this child really did spend some time in heaven.

Skeptical or not, this is a must read!

Women of Faith Event

Time to Rejoice

Time to Rejoice: Devotions Celebrating God's LoveThis was my first Women of Faith book. The book is a collection of eight WOF authors. The books shares five topics; The Greatness of God, Joy and Laughter, Comfort, Freedom and Assurance.

Each author tells their personal account that illustrates the topic. I found this book read similar to a journal. Each story illustrates a way in which god has helped them through a particular situation  in their lives and often the story is tied in with a biblical reference.

Whether you are struggling in your own life or want to read words of encouragement, this is a heat felt book sure to encourage you.

Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer - Movie Tie-In: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board
What a strong young lady, I admire her strength and love for the Lord. I enjoyed learning how her faith carried her through the shark attack and recovery.

It is clear her faith is a major part of her life as well as surfing. Her church, family and surfing all played a role in her recovery.  This is a great story of overcoming tragedy and continuing to prosper in your life despite the hardships that you perceive limit your abilities.

Bethany has a great outlook on life uses her tragedy experience to assist others with disabilities as well as use her new found fame for a greater cause. She is a great role model for young women and her story is truly inspirational.

My first post.....

Hello!! I am excited about this opportunity to have my very own blog spot. As this is my first entry I thought I must explain the name I have chosen for this blog. I struggled with finding the right name for a few days. I did what I always do when I struggle with a difficult situation or decision...I prayed.

The name "Two Phish Reflections" stems from a few ideas. I have often loved the spelling of fish as "phish". I once had a cat that I named "Katphish".  I found her abandoned and starving one night on my way home from an evening of cat fishing. I thought "Katphish" was a clever spelling for this small little creature.

Answering my prayers,  I recalled the miracle of "The feeding of the 5,000". According to wikipedia, it is the only miracle (apart from the resurrection) which is present in all four canonical Gospels (Mathew 14:13-21, Mark 6:31-44, Luke 9:10-17 and John 6:5-15). This miracle is also known as the miracle of the five loaves and two fish.

I love this miracle and it reminds me of god's grace and mercy. God has been my shelter through out the years and I want to dedicate my blog to the lord my savior.
